BookCrossing Instructions
- You need to register on the BookCrossing website. This will allow you to follow the books from your own “book shelf”. If you register through the schools page (www.bookcrossing.com/schools) you will receive free resources to get you started.
- After initial registration all you need to do is log in using the e-mail address and password that you used to register. You have to do this every time you go onto the website to review your books, register books and update blogs.
- To register a book go to the REGISTER A BOOK tab and following the instructions. Once it is registered you will be given your BookCrossing Identity Number (BCID) to write on your book. You will also be given an option to print a label with the BCID. We have used our own labels rather than print them. You are given free labels with your school kit if you register as a school.
- Once books are registered you have to release them using one of the two methods of release. These are CONTROLLED RELEASE (sent or given to someone you know) or a WILD RELEASE (left in a public place).
- After you have released the book you must update it on the BookCrossing website giving details of where and when it was released. Then wait for a response from the finder.
