The radio shows

Interviews by the presentersThe children are challenged to create and present an hour-long radio show. This is a colloborative project between schools in St Machar, The Reading Bus and Station House Media Unit.

The class decide on a theme for their radio show and collect materials in their own schools. The variety is very wide and shows have included poems, stories, interviews, dramatisations and raps. Some of this materials is pre-recorded in school.

A team of four presenters is then school and with the support of their class teacher or a member of the Reading Bus team a script is written.

Learning Activities

River City launchActivities also develop children's self-esteem, personal skills, ability to work under pressure and to work effectively as part of a team. This fully meets the aspirations of A Curriculum for Excellence: effective contributors, responsible citizens, successful learners and confident individuals.

Due to the success of this learning experience some schools have introduced applications forms and hold interviews to choose the presenters for each show.
