Susan: I want to be an Actress!
Mum: oh yes I know I will find a drama group sometime.
Susan: Mum you said that about 6 months ago.
Mum: Ok I’ll phone while you’re at school, ok
Susan: You better
Mum: I will darling (pause) goodbye.
Susan: Bye!
(Susan arrives at school there’s a group of bullies)
Bullies: What are you looking at!
Susan: I’m just going in to school
Bullies: Well go then!
(Susan rushes into school)
Susan: When am I starting drama or have you still not phoned?
Mum: Yes I’ve phoned and you’re starting after the holidays
Susan: Thanks mum, I thought you never would phone.
Mum: Well I did and you’ll need a snack every week?
Susan: I Know, I know
(During the holidays)
(Susan bumps into a girl at the swimming pool in their hotel)
Susan: oh, sorry
Ruby: I’m sorry too, what’s your name?
Susan: Susan. What’s yours?
Ruby: Ruby, I’m on holiday from London
Susan: So am I. Oh my gosh, small world!
Ruby: I’ve got to go, I’ll see you around
Susan: Yeh sure!
(Back home)
Susan: Come on Mum!
Mum: I’m coming, I’m coming.
(At drama)
Mrs Hills: Everyone this is Susan. She’s just starting here. Susan would you like to sit over there?
(Susan sits down)
Ruby: Hi Susan
Susan: Oh! Hi I didn’t know you went here, at least I know someone now.
Mrs Hills: Right children today we are just going to do some exercises then next week you will get auditioned for parts.
(After Drama)
Susan: Mum that was so much fun, I can’t wait till next week because we are getting auditioned for our parts. I would like to be Pepper but they probably won’t choose me since this is my first play.
Mum: I’m glad you like it.
(At School)
Bullies: What are you doing?
Susan: uh, oh I’m practising my part for a d—-r—ama play
Bullies: You can’t even speak properly (all the bullies laugh)
(At drama)
Mrs Hills: Hello everyone can you please line up in your groups.
Susan: What group am I in Mrs Hills?
Mrs Hills: Oh, can you go in Ruby’s group please?
(Susan waits in the queue then she sings “The sun will come out tomorrow”)
Mrs Hills: Very well done you can sit down now.
( on the way home)
Susan: We find out our parts next week I can’t wait
(Next week)
Ms Hills: Annie will be Clara, well done Clara! Molly will be Ruby, well done Ruby! Pepper will be Susan, Very well done susan.
Susan: oh my gosh! Well-done Ruby by the way
Ruby: oh thanks but it’s your third week here and you got the part of Pepper.
Mum: Well done Susan I thought you would do really well.
Mrs White: Oh Susan your Mum told me you were performing a play at drama
Susan (whispering):oh thanks mum!
Mrs White: Well actually she told me because she said you needed a couple of days off school, so I decided that the class would come to see you as an after school trip.
(In the playground)
Susan: Oh no!
Zoe: You’ll do great
Susan Thanks for the encouragement
Bullies: I don’t know if I want to see that.
(You see some of Susan’s rehearsals then it come to the big day)
Susan: I’m so scared that I’ll do something wrong
Mum: Well you’re lucky I took the day off school for you or you would be exhausted
Susan: Thanks Mum!
(Susan looks at the time)
Mum: It’s a bit to early though.
Susan: Well it’s already two and my dress rehearsal is at three, and I need to get ready!
(Susan performs a great play and she is just coming out of the theatre)
Bullies: That was so good maybe you can act after all.
Susan: Oh thanks!
Bullies: Can we be friends, we’re sorry. (All say Yeh!)
Susan: Sure you can. I try not to talk about acting too much!
Bullies: Ha!

Hi Amy -
It’s great to see a wee drama script here! I think this is the first one I’ve read in the Youngsters’ Forum. Playscipts aren’t the easiest type of writing to do so well done - you tell the story effectively and even include some stage directions! :o)
