The Flat

Who do you think might have been called out to this flat, and what conclusion might they reach?

It was a wet and thundery day. I was wondering why I got called out here so I walked down the corridor of the flat. Then I realised the door at the end of the corridor was broken There were bits of wood everywhere.

Behind it was a massive grey rock, but it was strange I would have thought the neighbours heard the trashing of the door. So I pushed the door aside and went in. It was breezy and some strange flickering white stuff was flying around the living room, it was because of the breezy wind coming from somewhere in the flat, the pieces of paper looked like homework. One piece of paper floated right beside my feet and it was THE SUN. For some strange reason one half of the headline was ripped off, it said….BUSTED.

When I turned round the corner of the living room  I saw a load of golden ice skating tropohies and certificates but the centre trophy was missing. I heard a noise in the kitchen. It was coming from the answer machine. “Hi, it’s me. Have you seen the headlines of THE SU*N? Be prepared, just in case.”

Directly opposite was a broken window and the middle shiny, golden statue was outside and someone had tried to smash the window with it to get out. In the corner of the living room was a TV stand but no TV on top of it. The wires were in a huge jumble behind it.

The Castle

Who lives in this castle?  Can you be a detective, find the clues and solve the mystery?

It was a cold dark winter’s night.  Every so often the sky lit by forks of lightning, which made the old castle on the hill stand out against the dark.

The castle was very old.  The walls were 3 metres thick and made of granite.  They were 30 metres high.  The only way in was through the huge wooden doors with iron bars running down it.

The door leads to the castle’s great hall.  The floor was covered with wooden planks which looked as though they had come from a ship.  Some of the planks looked as if they had African names carved in them.  They looked as though they were African signs and symbols.

On the walls were African masks with thousands of different colours and symbols on them.  There were also African spears and shields.  There was a space where a spear had been removed.  In the corner was a display cabinet.  The glass had been broken and items removed.  The signs in the cabinet showed that it had contained a whip, a rope, and manacles.

The roof was painted with a large map of Africa showing sailing routes between Africa, Britain and America.

In the opposite side of the great hall from the display cabinet was a raised stage with a curtain drawn across it.  The missing spear was lying at the foot of the stage.  Its point was bright red with blood.  There was something lying against the curtain tied with manacles and rope.

Rookie

Hi, I am a Rookie Lifesaver

Rookie lifesaving is learning about, lifesaving, first aid, water safety, making friends and having fun. A typical Rookie lifesaving session starts in the classroom (don’t worry it is not a bit like school!). In the classroom we do posters about water safety, and we have fake blood (that you use at Halloween), dark coloured lipstick and skin colour to make our wounds realistic. We have two different types of manikins one which we do C.P.R it is called Anne and the other one is to help you practice if someone is choking he(that’s the one we have anyway) is called Choking Charlie. The second part of Rookie lifesaving is in the water. You learn to rescue with different tows (I don’t mean your actual toes!!), equipment and pieces of clothing e.g. your top.
We also play games. Sometimes you are entered into competitions with other rookie lifesaving clubs. Last year, my team, Bon accord won!!
There are four star grades (four levels). I am on star grade three. When you are over thirteen you go to bronze medallion which is part of the Duke of Edinburgh award.
Rookie is for 8-13 year olds. Bon accord, Hazlehead and Bridge of Don. See you in the classroom!!!!

What am I?

It blooms in spring,
Joy is what it brings.
It ispink and white,
The wind shakes it like it’s on a rough flight.
“Please do not pick me,” it said
If you pick me I must be paid.
So do not pick this plant
What is it ?
It’s blossoms.

MY CAT

My cat isn’t fat,
he is not lazy,
he plays like crazy,
he lies on my bed,
and grabs the hair on my head,
his name is Rover,
and he gives me luck
like a four leaf clover!!

My Medieval Story

My Medieval Story by Natalia 12

Here I am sitting in my smoky, smelly soggy home. My mother is cooking something muddy in color and putrid in smell and I really don’t want to eat it. Even though it’s my birthday we just can’t afford to make something more appetizing or else we would starve for the rest of the week. Really the only exciting prospect of today is that the travelers are coming to our part of the city. The way of the travelers is shrouded in mystery, nobody knows where they come from or what they are called but what everybody does know is that they are some kind of fortune tellers. And if you come to them they will tell you exactly what will happen to you. Many people doubt them but they are always completely accurate in what they tell you. I really want to see them but my mother is forever telling me that they are witches and cannot be trusted. I sit in the damp hay leaning against the soft rotten wood of our house and think how I am going to escape….. I urge my weary mind to think of some solution to my problem but when I have just given up hope my mother comes bustling up to me saying, “Here is some money for you to buy something nice at the market”,she declared “I know it’s not much but it’s the best we can do”. I gratefully accept the money and boldly step out the front door. I sprint down the street along past the market and dodge flying buckets full of gunge and carefully step over horrible remains near the butcher. I am completely out of breath when the small rickety hut in which the travelers stay in is finally close. When I am inside the hut I notice a small patterned woman sitting on a stool. She notices me and fixes a cold hard glare at me. She strides towards me with a look of pure hatred on her face. She points her finger at me and I am paralyzed with fear. “You”, she growls “You are the daughter of the woman who had us evicted from here. She gathered a mob of villagers and threatened to kill us if we did not go. I have been expecting you and a devastating fate awaits you, the perfect way to get revenge.” I listen; terrified as she chants words in an exotic language in a menacing tone. She must be using some kind of witchcraft! She shrieks and turns towards me.I feel as if my heart has stopped beating and my blood turns cold and my face turns purple and then I collapse I don’t know how long it was before I wake up but the woman is standing over me and as soon as my eyes start to focus there’s a huge pressure on my lungs and I can’t breathe my world turns red and I can’t keep going and I lie dead blood seeping out my heart. The woman gives a hearty laugh and snarls “That will show them, DEAD and on her birthday too”.
