How to be the one
November 19th, 2007
Hiss of snake, swimming from the lakes
Human stomach, which rarely aches
Eye of newt, toe of frog
In the swamp, get bark of log
Hocus pocus feather of dove
Make me be the one they love
Hair of bear, blood of baboon
Beautiful perfume, helium from balloon
Hair of lady, boy of lies
Sack of potatoes, sharks eyes
Hocus pocus feather of dove
Make me be the one they love
Flags of earth , earth’s eternal flame
France, Spain, Scotland, must get this aime
Golden star, Butterflies wings
Crunchie bar, Saturn’s rings.
Hocus pocus feather of dove
Make me be the one they love

Wow! I reckon that’s an excellent poem, Leah. I like the way it’s a bit like a witches’ cauldron (it reminded me of the witches in Shakespear’s Macbeth), but it’s got some very modern and strange ingredients like
And instead of an ordinary love potion, this one hopes to
Which makes me wonder if the poem is all about the desire to be famous. Great stuff!
