I have goldfish as well. My one's called Baldrick, after Baldrick from "Blackadder" and my sons' ones are called Curry (because it's white on the bottom and orange on the top, like rice with curry on it!) and Pete (after Pete from Big Brother.)
The trouble with goldfish is, the don't live very long. My one's about three years old so he's doing well, but we've only had Curry and Pete for about six months. We bought them in the summer because my boys' fish both died in the school holidays. It's sad when a pet dies, but as long as you look after it when it's with you, so it's happy, then that's the main thing.

I was once asked to look after two goldfish for two weeks - and ended up having them for 5 years! I grew very fond of them - and ofcourse our two cats were always eyeing them up.

The fact you remembered what year they died and how long you had them, suggests you were very fond of Jamie and Bob.
Losing a pet is always sad.
