Chemical Chaos

The neighbourhood was mysteriously quiet, there wasn’t even a sound coming from the large building. The small castle looked like the others in the neighbourhood, like the newly cut grass, clean windows and a welcome mat, but that particular castle’s welcome mat was quite damp.
The inside of the castle was very different. There was a pair of dancing shoes in front of a wooden cupboard, and on top of the cupboard was a stereo with Pop Party 2 in it. Beside the stereo was a phone with a new message which said: “Sorry, David, won’t be home until 5pm. I’ll pay you back, promise. Love, Chloe.”
On the wall above the cupboard was a large blackboard with a solved chemistry equation. On the borders were some notes like, “Chloe, teach me how to use Ipod, David”, or a reminder of a chemistry competition or a concert.
As you walk further into the house, you can see small puddles that get larger as you walk. The next room is the kitchen, which looked like a normal kitchen. It had: A cooker, a fridge, a dog’s bowl with the name Matthew on it and a washing machine. At the opposite side of the kitchen was a stairway with more equations.
If you went back to the hall and kept walking you would see two doors, the first one had a hole in the middle of the door and black smoke coming out. The second door had an enormous puddle that went almost to the kitchen. I decided to go into the first door.
I could hardly see anything through all the smoke. All I could make out was a large table with what looked like chemistry bottles. But as I looked closer I noticed that the chemicals had been knocked over. Under the table was a blackish-red thing lying on the ground. As I looked round, I saw that all the windows and the glass cabinets had broken into a million pieces. Further round the room was a piece of wall missing. As I walked over I noticed it was the bathroom.
The bath looked as if it had been running for one hour, and at the bottom of my feet was the missing wall, and under the wall was…David!

This is a great piece of writing and I have thought very hard about your good clues. I think that Chloe is a famous pop star or dancer who earns good money as they stay in a castle in a lovely neighbourhood.
David could be an inventor or a chemist as there are so many equations scribbled around the house. He could have been working on a new chemistry experiment without success and decided to have a bath to relax and refocus his mind. At this point Matthew the dog could have come into the room and knocked over the experiment causing it to explode. I really hope Matthew is not the blackish-red thing lying under the table but I fear he might be. As Chloe is late home there is no-one there to switch the running bath off.
I am very intrigued by what really happened and hope you carry on writing.

What an intriguing mystery! David seems to me to be a mad scientist who did an experiment that went badly wrong, destroying the bath and spilling everywhere. I think David might be Chloe’s dad and Chloe might be quite young, ‘Pop Party 2′ sounds youthful and getting home late at 5pm might mean she’s returning from school.
Hmmmm… Lots of clues which I’ll have to think about to see if I can come up with a better solution to the mystery.

Lots and lots of clues - the first one seems to be the damp welcome mat - there seems to be lots of watery clues - small puddles, large puddles and an overflowing bath.
I think there is definitely a mad scientist in the house - is it David? I think Chloe is much youngers - clues from the dancing shoes, pay you back, I pod.
So I think I know quite a lot about the people who live in this personal space. You’ve done a fantastic job by writing lots of clues - but I am very intriqued to find out what has happened? Is it an experiment that has gone wrong? Where is the dog? You’ll have to write more please!

This is an intriguing mystery, and I especially want to know what really happened. My guess is that the explosion has been made to look like an accident, but Chloe has bumped off David to get out of paying him back. I don’t think Chloe is his daughter, because her note would be addressed to “Dad”. His girlfriend, perhaps? I loved the way this ended, finding David’s corpse under the rubble!
