To a tree by Miriam
April 27th, 2007
O tree,
Who knows how long ago
A seed fell to the ground
And was covered by the soil
And began to grow
Into a tree.
O tree,
Who knows how many birds
Perched on you
And built their nests
As you grew
Into a tree.
O tree,
Who knows what you felt
As wood from your sister trees
Was nailed into you
And a box was built
In the tree.
O tree,
I know how you feel
As I look out the window
Smiling at you -
A perfect tree
For a treehouse.

I really enjoyed this poem - and it made me smile a big smile at the end! I love trees - and would love my very own tree house!
Hope you write some more poems - this one was great!

I really liked the pattern you used to structure your poem, it suited every verse.
You have thought very carefully about the different uses of a tree and written carefully selecting beautiful language. Well done!
