Top 5 Books To Read

February 20th, 2007

If you are anything like me, then you will love books. Reading them, writing them, they’re just great! (Ask your teacher I’m sure they’ll agree!)

I have red lots of books. Some absolutely great some not so great. But after resding the not so great ones I know to stay away from that author so I can go back to enjoying reading. So just for you heres my top 5 books that you can read and enjoy!

(In no particular order)

1. Secrets

2. North Child

3. The granny project

4. The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe

5. Flood Alert

Secrets was a really good read. It was one of the first Jaqueline Wilson ones that I read and it was a great one to start off with. I really liked the way that it made refrences to Anne Franks diary and it made me want to go off and read that too.

North child is an absolutely great book!! I picked it up in Waterstones not really sure about it but with a bit of reasurance from my mum, bought it. It is quite a long book but please don’t let that put you off, I was still annoyed when it ended and there was no more to read. It is a lot like a classical fairytale but it is different in its own way too. After reading it I lent it to a friend who really enjoyed it too.

The main reason I picked up this book from our school library wad because I had just read another book by the same author (Anne Fine). The books she writes are really unusual and fun and the granny poject was no exeption. It involves children blackmailing thier parents into not putting thier Granny into an oldfolks-home and then … Well I won’t ruin it for you!

If you look at the list of books above you will probably realise Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. This is the second in a seiries of books by C.S. Lewis. You will probably have heard of or seen the film wich is equally as good as the book if not better! As I say if you really enjoy this book then you should really take up the other ones in the seiries.

The last book on my list is flood alert. This book is completly awesome!! (If you go on to the reading bus homepage you will see a section about the Cornhill Book Club, Scroll down to see what I said about it.)

I enjoyed reading your book reviews. I read a lot of nasty crime/ thriller novels but If I was to choose a favourite for P6s/P7s I would have to choose “Holes” by Louis Sachar. You’ve maybe seen the superb film but the book is even better- it’s very clever how the author drops clues into the story and nothing really makes much sense… until the end when everything falls into place!
I also like Jacqueline Wison’s books (especially “Double Act,” “Dustbin Baby” and “Lola Rose”) Michael Morpurgo’s books and the Harry Potter series of course! And “The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe” is an all-time classic!

I didn’t know you were such a fan of Jaq. Wilson books.
I don’t fancy reading North Child, but it’s better than doing gym!
