Mums organise Puppet Treasure Hunt

Parents at Seaton PrimaryJeannie, Susie, Helen and Louise from Seaton School organised a fantastic puppet treasure hunt for Primary One on Thursday 22nd May.

The youngsters were divided into teams and had to hunt all over the school playground for different puppets. The class had to use their reading skills to solve the clues and work out where the puppets were hidden. It was a very exciting and enjoyable session for youngsters and adults alike!

At the end the Mums presented the children with their own very special treasure - a Charlie and Lola book to take home.

This event is part of the ongoing project “Reading is Fundamental” that is funded by Scottish Literacy Trust. This is the second event for Primary One at Seaton School and they are now looking forward to their third and final event. Next year a new Primary One class will enjoy taking home three books during the year.

Well done to the Mums for organising such a successful event!

The Chief o’ Mount Hooley

Emperors New kilt Cast photoCausewayend Primary youngsters have been working with Sheena Blackhall to create their own version of “The Emperor’s New Kilt”. Their story is about The Chief of Mount Hooley who wears a kilt to keep him safe from harm and to camouflage him from dangers. Each day of the week he goes to a different setting, created by the youngsters using landmarks from their own community.

The class went to HMT to watch the theatre company “Wee Stories” perform their production onstage. Then the tables were turned and Primary 3/4 performed their story for the actors! It was a fantastic experience for all.

This project is one of the many activities being devised by Sheena Blackhall to complement “Fit Like, Yer Majesty?” being published by The Reading Bus in September this year. The project makes a lovely springboard for any class studying clans, tartans, camouflage, Scotland and ofcourse, Emperors!”

Well done to Miss Martin and Primary 3/4 for all their hard work.

You can read the story written by the class here:
