Harbour Tour

As part of the Apardion project, Primary 6 at Walker Road had a journey of discovering around Aberdeen Harbour with Allan Paterson.  Three Primary 6 classes from Torry are writing their own book, Aberdeen Harbour Today.  Each class has enjoyed a session onboard the bus as well as an interactive walking tour with Allan.  Watch out for their book being published on the Apardion section.

Doric onboard The Reading Bus

Pupils at Tullos enjoyed action packed sessions onboard The Reading Bus with Sheena Blackhall.  The classes heard Doric poems, songs and stories and the much loved puppets helped them along!

Fittie Hooses

18 January 2012

Primary 6 at St Peter's RC School have created a Doric song to describe their lovely Fittie Hooses.  Julie Lacome visited the school and inspired the class to make their own collage houses.  Their song was recorded today, photographs taken of their houses and they will be all clipped together to make a photo montage.

Plans for The Green

18 January 2012

Schools in Northfield ASG have begun planning for their work with The Reading Bus and Apardion.  They will be exploring The Green and translating their findings through podcasts, films and literature.  First stop will be a springboard session onboard The Reading Bus next week.

Film Animations at Torry Academy

The Reading Bus team were working at Torry Academy on Wednesday 18th January to create two recycling films and a film featuring Aberdeen Harbour for the Apardion website.

Ashgrove Children’s Centre

Nursery children enjoyed sessions onboard The Reading Bus with Sheena Blackhall at Ashgrove Children's Centre.  Sheena read stories, shared poems, sang songs in English and in Doric.  We always enjoy being at Ashgrove and Sheena particularly enjoyed meeting old friends from Raeden Nursery.

Denburn Probus Club

Jenny Watson and Callum from Kingsford School were delighted to deliver a presentation to the Denburn Probus Club about The Reading Bus.  Jenny talked about the journey of the Reading Bus from concept to reality and shared the trials and triumphs.  Callum was able to share his own journey through his school's involvement in Apardion and, in particular, how his class created the fantastic podcast featuring The Friary at Marischal College.

Author and Artist Workshops

Pupils at Cornhill School and St Peter's RC School enjoyed a double celebration with a workshop from both the author and aritst of Apardion, A Leopard's Quest.   Sheena Blackhall read from the book and Julie shared her art work before the pupils began creating their own art work.

Scottish Accordion Club

The Reading Bus team were delighted to meet representatives from the Scottish Accordion Club at Riverbank School on Tuesday 15th November.  Many thanks to the club for the generous cheque that was handed over to help fund sound tracks for the films being developed for Apardion, A Leopard's Quest.  

Film Animation CPD

The Reading Bus team delivered a CPD session on Film Animation for teachers today at Sunnybank School.  There was input about storyboarding, art work, creating sound effects, writing techniques as well as a hands on workshop using I can animate and i-Movie.  View the clips made in 90 minutes here.
